Dr Robert Dachs is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
Rob obtained his undergraduate and specialist qualifications at the University of Cape Town. In 2013 he completed a fellowship in trauma and upper limb surgery at Groote Schuur Hospital, followed by an 18-month fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery under the mentorship of Professor Steve Roche and Dr Basil Vrettos, with whom he continues to work in association. During his fellowship Rob gained extensive experience in all aspects of shoulder and elbow surgery, including arthroscopic and joint replacement surgery. He has a special interest in the management of shoulder and elbow instability and treatment of fragility (osteoporosis induced) fractures of the upper limb.
Rob has received several awards for his research into the treatment of shoulder and elbow disorders, and his work has been published in leading international journals, and presented internationally. In 2014 he was awarded an American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ (AAOS) International Scholarship to complete further training in shoulder and elbow surgery in the United States.
